At the mouth of the Trident on the Bay of Crabs, Saltpans is a modest walled town with a stone keep and a harbour used by fishing boats and coastal traders. Ships bound for Gulltown and the Vale call in here.
Salt drawn from the flats along the shore gives the town its name and much of its trade. House Cox holds the keep, and the Quiet Isle lies not far off in the river mouth, home to a community of penitent brothers.
