Guarding the only dry road through the bogs of the Neck, this ancient stronghold once had twenty towers; three still stand, sinking into black mud and creeper. The kingsroad runs directly beneath it.
Held from the north, the Moat is nearly impossible to take, since attackers must come up a narrow causeway with swamp on both sides and no room to deploy. Southron armies have broken against it for thousands of years, which is why the North was never conquered from the south.
