Set in the hill country on the eastern edge of the westerlands, Hornvale lies close to the riverlands border and the springs that feed the Red Fork. The road running east towards Riverrun passes beside it.
House Brax holds the castle for the Lannisters, taking a purple unicorn for its arms. Its knights serve in the westerlands host, and the family's position on the frontier has drawn it into most of the wars fought along the river border.
