The Riverlands lie in the centre of Westeros, drained by the Trident and its three forks. Rich, populous and without natural borders, they have been fought over by every kingdom around them, and they were never a kingdom of their own when Aegon landed.

House Tully of Riverrun became lords paramount after the Conquest. Their castle sits at the junction of the Red Fork and the Tumblestone, and their bannermen hold seats along every river on the map.

Explore: The Riverlands

The Green Fork rises in the Neck and flows south past the Twins, the double castle of House Frey that controls the only crossing for hundreds of miles. The Blue Fork comes down from the hills near Seagard, and the Red Fork rises at the Golden Tooth on the Westerlands border and passes Riverrun and Stone Hedge. The three meet near the ruby ford, and the united Trident flows east past Lord Harroway's Town to the Bay of Crabs at Saltpans.

The God's Eye, the largest lake in Westeros, lies in the south with the Isle of Faces at its centre and the colossal ruin of Harrenhal on its northern shore. The Kingsroad, the River Road and the High Road meet at the Inn at the Crossroads, making the Riverlands the crossroads of the continent.

The land is a patchwork of farms, market towns and holdfasts: Fairmarket, Stoney Sept, Maidenpool and Saltpans among them. The people follow the Seven and have a long memory for the wars fought across their fields. Old rivalries, such as the feud between the Brackens and the Blackwoods, run for centuries.
