Covering much of the north-west between Winterfell and the coast, the wolfswood is a dense forest of oak, ash and sentinel pine. Deepwood Motte stands within it, and mountain clans keep to its northern edges.
Hunting parties from Winterfell ride out into it for boar and elk, and the wood takes its name from the packs that howl through it in winter. Its trees supply timber for the northern castles and cover for anyone who wishes not to be found.
