North of the Wall and west of the Haunted Forest, this is less a castle than a stockaded longhall ringed by a ditch and a wall of earth and stakes. Craster, a wildling who bends the knee to no king, holds it with his many wives.
Rangers of the Night's Watch shelter there on the way north, trading wine and steel for food and a roof. Craster is called a friend of the Watch, though brothers who have slept under his roof rarely speak well of him.
