Standing on the kingsroad at the heart of the North, Winterfell is a sprawling castle of two curtain walls, a moat between them, and towers rising over a godswood with a heart tree. Hot springs run through its walls, keeping the halls warm through the longest winters.
House Stark has ruled here for eight thousand years, first as Kings in the North and then as Wardens of the North. The crypts below hold the stone kings of their line, and the whole North looks to Winterfell when banners are called.
