Standing in the eastern Red Mountains near the northern end of the Boneway, Yronwood is a large castle commanding the richest lands in Dorne outside Sunspear's own. Its position controls one of the two roads into the region.
House Yronwood ruled as Kings of Dorne before the Rhoynar came, and its lords still style themselves the Bloodroyal. Rivalry with the Martells has coloured Dornish politics ever since, though the Yronwoods remain their vassals.
