The Stormlands lie on the south-eastern coast of Westeros between the Crownlands and Dorne, facing the Narrow Sea and the storms that give the region its name. House Baratheon rules from Storm's End, an ancient fortress on Shipbreaker Bay whose single curtain wall has never fallen.

On the map the region runs from the Kingswood in the north down the coast past Cape Wrath to the Sea of Dorne, and inland to the Red Mountains along the Dornish Marches.

Storm's End stands on a cliff above Shipbreaker Bay, with the island of Tarth, the "Sapphire Isle", across the Straits of Tarth. South of the castle the Rainwood covers Cape Wrath, a dense, wet forest holding Griffin's Roost, the Rain House and Mistwood. Estermont lies off the coast.

Inland, the Dornish Marches climb toward the Red Mountains: Blackhaven, Nightsong and Stonehelm guard the Boneway and the Prince's Pass against Dorne, and the ruined palace of Summerhall marks where the Targaryens built a summer retreat. The Kingsroad ends at Storm's End after running south from King's Landing through Bronzegate.

Stormlanders are hardy people shaped by wind, rain and centuries of border war with Dorne. Their lords are famous fighters, their marcher houses the best archers in Westeros, and their history reaches back to the Storm Kings who ruled long before the Conquest. The Baratheon words are "Ours is the Fury".
