Set in the hills north-east of Casterly Rock, this castle commands the narrow pass that carries the road from Lannister country down into the riverlands. Gold mines in the surrounding hills give the place its name.
House Lefford holds it for the Lannisters. Any army marching east from the westerlands must pass beneath its walls, which makes the Golden Tooth the western equivalent of the Bloody Gate in strategic terms.
